Rationale
The default instinct — purple to blue at full opacity as a brand gradient — is the most reliable marker of an unconsidered UI. It communicates nothing about the product and signals AI generation or framework default aesthetics. Intentional gradients serve distinct spatial roles at low opacity (< 12%), creating atmosphere rather than imposing identity. OKLCH interpolation is mandatory because sRGB gradients between complementary colors produce a desaturated gray band at the midpoint — this kills gradient energy and is the perceptual failure that makes cheap gradients look cheap. A gradient from oklch(0.65 0.20 40) to oklch(0.55 0.20 260) in OKLCH space produces a vivid green at the midpoint (hue 150°); the same gradient in sRGB produces brownish gray (#9da29e).
